John Leslie Breck, one of the original colonists, established close ties with Monet. Breck's familiarity with Monet finds testimonial in pictures, which he painted in Monet's houseboat and of Monet's garden. Several of which he exhibited in his first one-artist show, held back in Boston at the St. Botolph Club in November of 1890.
